Terms & Conditions
Gecko Car Rental takes pride in its fleet of rental vehicles as well as its service to customers. Please take the time to read through our car hire terms and conditions for Namibia and cross-border rentals:
- All vehicles are hired subject to our standard Rental Agreement (RA).
- Car hire rates exclude Airport surcharge and/or tourism levy.
- Rates include VAT.
- Rates include airport transfers.
- Rates include comprehensive public and passenger liability.
- Rates include unlimited mileage.
- Insurance excludes damage from sandstorms and damage or loss of personal property.
- The full replacement cost of tyres, rims and all other equipment (damaged or not) will be charged to the customer if not returned with the vehicle on termination of the rental contract.
- An accident administration fee of N$500 applies.
- The minimum rental period is 7 days. Daily car hire rates are calculated on a 24 hour basis from time of pick-up to time of drop-off.
- We reserve the right to substitute the booked vehicle with a similar one.
- Extensions of the car rental period must be arranged with us no later than 2 days (48 hours) prior to the agreed date of termination.
- A valid and endorsed driver's licence must be produced by renter / driver. Additional drivers must be nominated at time of check out. Minimum age is 25 years. We accept: An international drivers license; A European Community drivers license; Any national drivers license in English. National drivers licenses in any other language other than English must be accompanied by an officially certified translation in English.
- Cover options are not valid if the legal speed limit applicable on any road is exceeded.
- Cross-border conditions are available on request.
- Cross-border travelling is allowed, but must be arranged at least 72 hours before check out.
- One-way rentals are available on request.
- Delivery and collection fees within Namibia are available on request.
- We accept Visa and Master Card credit cards.
- We accept British Pounds, US dollars, Euros, South African Rand and Namibian Dollars.
- All terms, conditions and rates are subject to change without prior notice.
- We provide 24 hour backup support in case of an accident or breakdown.
- The rental vehicle must be returned in the same condition in which it was issued at the time of check out. The cost of cleaning the vehicle will be charged at N$500 for vehicle returned dirty on the inside.
- In the event that a vehicle is booked less than 6 weeks before pick-up, the full rental amount will be payable within 48 hours of booking confirmation.
- In the event of cancellation the following will be applicable:
- If cancellation is done within 15 - 30 days before arrival date 25% of the total amount will not be refunded.
- If cancellation is done 2 weeks before arrival date, the total rental amount will not be refunded.
